Dr. Rachel Raimist is a formerly tenured college professor turned television director.

Raimist was tapped by Ava DuVernay to direct Queen Sugar for the Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN). She was then hired to direct an episode of Greenleaf (OWN), signed with high-profile manager at Kaplan/Perrone and agent at CAA. Most recently she directed the season finale of FANTASY ISLAND (Fox), the finale of the musical UP HERE (HULU), the single-cam comedy pilot WILD LIFE for Imagine/Jax Media/HBO Max, THE BIG LEAP (Fox), WU-TANG: AN AMERICAN SAGA (Hulu), SEX LIVES OF COLLEGE GIRLS (HBO Max), DIARY OF A FUTURE PRESIDENT (Disney+) and THE REPUBLIC OF SARAH, NANCY DREW and ROSWELL, NEW MEXICO for the CW.

She is active in leadership roles at the Directors Guild of America (DGA). She serves as the Co-Chair of the Special Projects Committee, Co-Chair of the Disability Committee - appointed to both positions by DGA President Lesli Linka Glatter. She is also the Alt. Co-Chair of The Women's Steering Committee, on the leadership team of the Women's Steering Committee's women director mentorship program The Squad and was appointed by past DGA President Tommy Schlamme to serve on the Special Projects Committee of the DGA.

Raimist holds a B.A. and a M.F.A. in Directing from the UCLA School of Film and Television and a M.A. in Women’s Studies and a Ph.D. in Feminist Studies from the University of Minnesota where The Rachel Raimist Feminist Media Center was named in her honor in 2009.
