WR School District budget hearing & annual meeting

The Wild Rose School District held a budget hearing and the annual meeting on Aug. 8.

As District Administrator Craig Hayes presented the proposed budget, he pointed out that construction of the referendum project which passed earlier in the year will begin in the spring of 2023.

The proposed 2022-2023 budget is set at $10,346,080, a $31,472 on .3 percent increase.

The proposed tax levy became $6,471,696, a $569,191.98 or 8.8 percent increase. The mil rate is proposed to be 7.27, a .47 or 6.46 percent increase, lower than the state average for the 2021-2022 school year.

The annual meeting was chaired by Sandie Anderson.

The reading of the 2021 annual meeting minutes were dispensed with.

The auditors and treasurer’s report, as well as the clerk’s report were read and adopted.

The proposed tax levy of $6,471,696 was approved, as well as establishing school board salaries at the current rate.

The district was authorized to provide student accident insurance, and established Aug. 7 as the 2023 annual meeting date at 7 p.m.
