Through the Nita M. Lowey 21st Century Community Learning Center Grant, the Parkside A+ After School Program has been awarded $100,000 per year for the next 5 years to continue afterschool programming at Parkside School for fourth through eighth grade students.

The Nita M. Lowey 21st Century Community Learning Center Grant is intended to help provide academic and enrichment programs for students that are from a primarily low income school district (40% or more free & reduced lunch) and are academically at risk or in need of social, emotional or behavioral support.

The A+ After School Programs (Riverview, Redgranite & Parkside) will continue to be free for the 22/23 school year and will provide services for students in Kindergarten through eighth grade. Early enrollment is open May 15-June 30th for returning youth (and their siblings) and for priority youth. Enrollment opens to all district families on July 1st and can be completed on the A+ website.

Enrollment space is limited, families will be notified if their child is accepted into the A+ Program or placed on the waiting list. The A+ Program also provides full day programs during spring break for K-5th grade students and Summer Programs during the afternoon in June for K-5th grade students.

The A+ Program is in need of additional part-time adult & high school staff for the 22/23 school year at Parkside, Riverview and Redgranite schools. Team members should be reliable, caring and creative, enjoy working with youth, be able to pass a background check and want to make a difference in the lives of local youth. If interested, apply before Friday, July 15th, training begins Monday, Aug.15th.
