Whitefish Bay school board votes to switch back to optional masking for the remainder of the school year

WHITEFISH BAY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- The Whitefish Bay School Board voted to return to optional masking at Wednesday night's meeting.

Students and staff will once again have the option to mask up or not, beginning Thursday, May 26.

On Monday May 23, the district reinstated its pandemic safety precautions that required all people to wear masks in district buildings. The decision came as COVID cases were on the rise throughout Milwaukee.

Board members voted to return to optional masking until June 30, 2022. The administration may require masks at large indoor gatherings.
