SATURDAY. NOW TO THE ANTIWAR CAMPUS PROTEST TODAY. HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS JOINED IN THE MOVEMENT AT UW MILWAUKEE. TENTS ARE BACK UP ON LIBRARY MALL AFTER OFFICERS TOOK THEM DOWN YESTERDAY. THE PROTESTS ARE NOW ON DAY FOUR OVER THE ISRAEL-HAMAS WAR. 12 NEWS HANNAH HILYARD HAS BEEN COVERING THE PROTESTS AT UM ALL WEEK. SHE JOINS US LIVE NOW. HANNAH HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS FROM SHOREWOOD JOINED THE ENCAMPMENT THIS AFTERNOON. RIGHT. KRISTIN AND PATRICK, ROUGHLY 100 SHOREWOOD HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS ENTERED THIS ENCAMPMENT AFTER WALKING OUT OF CLASS. THEY CAME TO THIS ONE HERE ON UW MILWAUKEE’S CAMPUS AS YOU CAN SEE, VERY MUCH STILL IN PLACE NOW, FOUR DAYS IN A. WHAT YOU GUYS ARE DOING IS INCREDIBLY BRAVE. AT NOON, SHARP, ROUGHLY 100 SHOREWOOD HIGH SCHOOLERS WALKED OUT OF CLASS THURSDAY IN SUPPORT OF PRO-PALESTINIAN PROTESTS HAPPENING ACROSS THE COUNTRY AND IN THEIR OWN NEIGHBORHOOD. FOR GAZA, WE WILL FIGHT FOR GAZA. WE WILL FIGHT STUDENTS OF THE WORLD, UNITE STUDENTS OF THE WORLD, UNITE. WE’RE GOING TO BE WALKING DOWN TO UM AND JOINING UP WITH THE ENCAMPMENT DOWN THERE. WHY? UM, OUR OBJECTIVE IS IT’S VERY SIMPLE. WE’RE ADVOCATING FOR FREEDOM AND LIBERATION FOR THE PALESTINIAN PEOPLE FOLLOWING A QUICK RALLY ON SCHOOL GROUNDS, THE TEENS, STUDENTS OF THE WORLD UNITE MARCHED THE MILE AND A HALF DOWN OAKLAND AND ACROSS KENWOOD TO MEET UP WITH UW MILWAUKEE’S ENCAMPETH FIGHT FOR PALESTINE. WE MUST FIGHT. THE WALKOUT WAS NOT A SCHOOL SPONSORED EVENT, BUT THE SHOREWOOD STUDENTS SAY THEY DID GIVE ADMINISTRATORS A HEADS UP. WHAT DID THE SCHOOL WANT US TO KNOW, AND WHAT DO WE HAVE TO TELL THE SCHOOL ABOUT? AND SO WE DID ALL THAT, LIKE THAT FORMAL STUFF ONTO WEDNESDAY, AND THEN WE MADE SIGNS DURING LUNCH YESTERDAY, AND WE HAD TO WALK OUT TODAY. SO IT WAS REALLY QUICK TURNAROUND. IN A STATEMENT, THE SCHOOL DISTRICT CONFIRMS IT WAS AWARE OF THE EVENT, SAYING, QUOTE, WE SUPPORT OUR STUDENTS RIGHT TO ENGAGE IN PEACEFUL ACTIVISM AND TO EXPRESS THEMSELVES RESPECTFULLY AND RESPONSIBLY THAT THE TEENS USING THIS OPPORTUNITY. ARE YOU OLD ENOUGH TO VOTE YET? UH, I’LL BE ABLE TO VOTE IN NOVEMBER, BUT NOT YET TO HAVE THEIR VOICES HEARD. CAN ANY CHANGE TO THE ENCAMPMENT TODAY? NO CHANGE. KRISTEN, THE ORGANIZERS OF THIS ENCAMPMENT TELL ME THEY HAVE NOT HEARD FROM THE UNIVERSITY OR THE POLICE DEPARTMENT TODAY. NOW, THOSE ORGANIZERS SAY THAT THEY WILL NOT LEAVE THIS ENCAMPMENT UNTIL THE DEMANDS THAT THEY DELIVER TO THE UNIVERSITY AS ADMINISTRATION BACK ON MONDAY ARE MET. The teens want to support the encampments happening across the country and in their own neighborhood

High school students joined in the pro-Palestinian protest on UW-Milwaukee's campus Thursday as the encampmment entered its fourth day. "Our objective is very simple: we are advocating for freedom and liberation for the Palestinian people," Shorewood High School senior Sam Diliberti said. At noon sharp Thursday, roughly 100 Shorewood High School students walked out of class in support of the protests happening across the country and in their own neighborhood. Following a quick rally on school grounds, the teens marched the mile and a half down Oakland Avenue and across Kenwood Boulevard to meet up with the UW-Milwaukee encampment. The walkout was not a school-sponsored event, but the Shorewood students organizing it said they did give administrators a heads-up. "What does the school want us to know? What do we have to tell the school about? So we did all that like formal stuff on Wednesday, and then we made signs at lunch yesterday. And then we had the walkout today. It was a really quick turnaround," senior Robert Gronert said. The Shorewood School District released a statement in response to the walkout: "We are aware that some of our students have planned a walkout today at noon. It is important to note that this is not a school-sponsored event. In the Shorewood School District, we support our students’ right to engage in peaceful activism and to express themselves respectfully and responsibly. We are committed to fostering a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment for all members of our school community."UW-Milwaukee protest organizers told WISN 12 News they did not hear from the university or police Thursday. They have continuously said they will not leave the encampment until the university meets their list of demands.
