ACT scores look to be improving in the Kiel School District.
According to an educator in 2021, cumulative scores in the areas of English, Language, Arts, math, reading, writing, science, and STEM were not at the level where anyone wanted them to be.
However, with a change of strategic plan to focus learning goals on student achievement, the most recent scores have shown consistent improvement.
The district also held multiple meetings with each grade level over their first three years in high school and figured out how to challenge students to better prepare for the test.
With “staff appreciation week” drawing near, the district thanks staff at all grade levels for their dedicated work toward improving student achievement surrounding ACT scores.
The cumulative score in the district rose from 17.8 in the 2020-2021 school year to 20.3 in the 2023-24 school year.
However, the perfect score districtwide would be 36, so the district is still working to make positive improvements by revising schedules, adding new positions, and helping by supporting teachers.
The Kiel School District is also reaching out to other school districts who would like to collaborate and help their students succeed when taking the ACT’s.
