EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WLAX/WEUX) – Wisconsin Secretary of State Sarah Godlewski gave Northwoods Elementary students a story today (4/24/24), and also gave the Eau Claire School District an $800,000 grant. The grant is part of a $65 million distribution statewide from the Common School Fund.

Godlewski says it is a record-breaking amount for the state. That grant money will go towards keeping the Eau Claire School District up to date with current learning materials, “And it’s really important we know now, especially with the digital divide, I mean these funds can be used we saw during COVID nor hotspots or e-learning books as well as just buying books that kids need to learn, grow and develop.

Godlewski, an Eau Claire native, is in the area as part of a campaign to teach students about civics, and the role of the Secretary of State in Wisconsin.

She also visited her alma mater, Memorial High School, to give a speech and held a round table with students from UW Eau Claire.
