Janesville School Board selects new Roosevelt Elementary School principal

JANESVILLE — Roosevelt Elementary School in Janesville will move forward with Kelly Kaminski as its principal, per a decision from the school board Tuesday night. Kaminski is the assistant principal at Robinson Elementary in Beloit.

Kaminski was selected from an initial pool of 20 applicants that had been whittled down to six. Applicants were interviewed by a team consisting of Roosevelt staff members. That staff included fifth-grade challenge teacher Jennifer Kallio, third-grade teacher Erin Daskam, school counselor Nichole Nunn, academic learning coach Laura Leigh and parent and district substitute teacher Laura Bierman. Applicants were later interviewed by a district leadership consisting of Director of Learning and Innovation Allison DeGraaf, Director of Pupil Services Kim Peerenboom, Monroe Elementary Principal Sally Pope and Title Program Coordinator Julie DeCook.
