CHIPPEWA FALLS, Wis. (WEAU) - Students from Chippewa Falls and Bloomer High Schools are seeing if they have what it takes to budget their way through adulthood.

Today, over 400 students met at the Chippewa Falls YMCA for a real-life simulation event where they must budget a full month as a 25-year-old in their desired career and financial future.

The event, hosted by RCU, aims to give students a taste of what it is like to be an adult.

One student says this event has been a challenging, but eye-opening, experience.

“You’re working through your life in the span of an hour, everything you’d ever buy. Vehicle, pets, clothing, houses--trying to make sure you have good spending habits,” said Colton Petska, an eleventh grade student from Chippewa Falls High School.

Other students said that this event shows them how far in advance they need to be planning out their finances.
