BONDUEL (WLUK) -- Just one day before hosting one of its most important events, Bonduel School District unveiled its new renovations and additions.

Within 36 hours of graduation, Bonduel school board members officially cut the ribbon on the high/middle school's new gymnasium, which will be the venue for Friday's celebration.

The district recently finished its construction and renovation projects, which were part of a referendum passed in 2021.

Those projects include a new two-court gymnasium and locker rooms for the middle/high school as well as upgrades to all the schools -- like secure entrances, upgrades to existing classrooms and other building and security improvements.

District Administrator Joe Dawidziak said he was particularly proud of the projects' success, considering people had said the referendum would be impossible. Despite those doubts, the referendum passed during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, said Dawidziak.

And after about a year and a half of construction, the district is looking forward to the future and all that is to come.

"I just want to say how proud I am today to see this. It took a lot of people from the beginning stages of planning and everybody all the way through it," said School Board President Dennis Bergsbaken. "This is just amazing to me. I'm very proud -- very, very proud. It's something that we can, as a community, be proud of for years to come for everybody that's going to come through here."

While Bonduel is proud of its new facility improvements, the district says it's even prouder of the leadership and learning happening within its buildings.
