Germantown School Board approves reduced paper contract

The Germantown School District reduced the amount of paper that it is purchasing in its annual paper contract, School Board member Michael Loth said during the Sept. 13 School Board meeting.

Loth said administration requested 840 cases of paper annually but the Finance Committee cut that back to 600 cases.

“We’re just looking for paper savings,” Loth said. He added that as the district moved toward having staff and students work with Chromebooks, “we should be able to do more things electronically and less things through using paper.”

The board approved a bid with Contract Paper Group for $17,160 for the current school year.

“I do appreciate the commentary that we’re going to try to scale this back, I think that’s a great idea,” School Board President Brian Medved said. “We’ve been talking about this for years and it’s about time we get serious about it.”

School Board member Bob Soderberg added that he has recently stopped getting paper printouts of the School Board agenda packet.

“That alone should save a couple palettes of paper,” Soderberg said.
