Nearly four months ago, Howards Grove Schools Superintendent Chris Peterson sent out the word that COVID cases had spiked, forcing students and teachers into the virtual world. On Monday, real-world, in-person, 5 days-per-week classroom instruction is back. The hybrid model that sustained learning through the pandemic will be put aside and on March 1st, all Howards Grove students are to report to their classrooms.
In a letter to families last Friday, Peterson thanked them for their diligence and stamina in fighting the pandemic, while asking them to continue daily screening to protect against potential spread of the coronavirus.
Not all students are being forced to return; a full virtual option remains in place for those who have chosen it, however even those are being encouraged to consider returning to the classrooms. Virtual instruction in Howards Grove will remain an option in the event that a student or classroom needs to be quarantined, something everyone hopes won’t be needed anytime soon.
