Staff member at Trevor-Wilmot Consolidated School District tests positive for COVID-19

KENOSHA COUNTY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- The Trevor-Wilmot Consolidated School District received notification from the Kenosha County Health Department Monday that a staff member has tested positive for COVID-19.

The district says this the first case of the virus reported since students returned on Sept. 1.

The staff member is currently in isolation, and the Kenosha County Division of Health has been working with the school to identify and reach close contacts of the individual, who will also be required to quarantine for two weeks from the date last exposed.

All 7th grade students and homeroom teachers will be learning from home and asked to self-quarantine effective Sept. 29. 

The district says all 8th grade students will also be learning from home as 8th grade homeroom teachers are asked to quarantine due to routine collaboration with 7th grade teachers. 

“We are taking multiple steps to ensure that all students and staff are following recommendations from the Kenosha County Health Department to help mitigate the spread of COVID-19. We appreciate their partnership as we continue to work through this pandemic together," said District Administrator Dr. Michelle Garven. "We have planned for cases of COVID in our building and
appreciate everyone’s patience and flexibility as we pivot to our Learning from Home plans.”

All students and staff will return to the building on Thursday, Oct. 8.
