The School District of Beloit will extend its online learning for at least a week because of the upcoming November election.

The district is conducting virtual learning for its entire first term, which is currently set to end in the last week of October.

Interim Superintendent Daniel Keyser said the new plan is to continue online learning for the first week of November so the city of Beloit can use four schools as polling sites for the election.

Keyser will not have students or staff in those school buildings on the day of the election, and the city will be responsible for cleaning after the in-person voting.

In the first week of October, the district will evaluate whether to return to in-person learning for its second term starting after the election.
