"No one's coming back with a suntan so to speak. Spring break was a little bit different," Oconomowoc Area School District Superintendent Roger Rindo said.
His is one area school district where students are now learning online.
"If there's anything good about this, I think it's that our kids, because of the age they group up, are far more prepared and far more flexible to be living in this digital world than many people like me who continue to adjust to it," Rindo said.
Laptops lined the district office Monday waiting to be picked up by students who need them.
"We have enough digital resources for those families who need them. So we're fully virtual now," Rindo said.
Oconomowoc High School Principal Jason Curtis said transitioning to online classes has been a little different.
"We're so used to coming back from spring break and having the hallways be filled with 1,700 kids walking around, sharing their stories and excited to see each other again, which is probably the hard part of this whole thing," Curtis said.
Mondays are now for teachers and students to prepare for the week.
Classes are held Tuesday through Friday.
"All morning long I've been on the phone with teachers. I've been on the phone with some students and setting up plans. And hearing ideas for things that they're going to do to make learning fun, interactive and engage them in this process starting tomorrow," Curtis said.
Administrators said there were technological hurdles to overcome before classes could begin.
