Legal Advice and Counseling Application: Education
Important note (Updated September 12, 2023): At this time, we are unable to accept new applications for our Free Legal Advice & Counseling program inquiries that are not related to gender discrimination or gender-based/sexual violence at California schools. If your inquiry is not about incidents that occurred at a California school, you may not receive a reply from us.

We may be able to provide free legal advice or help for the following school-related issues:
- Sexual assault, sexual harassment, or other gender-based harassment by a student, teacher, coach, staff, or other faculty member at a college, university, or other post-secondary education institution;
- Sexual assault, harassment, or other gender-based harassment that targets LGBTQIA+ individuals of any grade level; and
- Unequal opportunities for LGBTQIA+, nonbinary, or GNC individuals of any grade level at school or other education-related programs.

Instructions
If you’re facing gender discrimination in your place of employment, please fill out the Workplace Application form instead, available on our website (equalrights.org), in the purple Legal Advice bar at the bottom of the page.

Please use this form to tell us about your legal question or issue as a student, or a parent/guardian of a student, or a school employee. Equal Rights Advocates will review the information you provide and respond to you by email or phone.  If there are any urgent (i.e. time sensitive) issues in your case/matter, you should not wait for us to respond before taking action.

Please fill out all questions on this form; if you don't, it may take us longer to get back to you. Using this form is the fastest way to receive a response from ERA. If you leave a voicemail instead, it may take us longer to respond.

Everything you tell us below is confidential. Anything you write in the form below is confidential and privileged. We won’t share the information you provide with anyone outside our organization without your express, written consent. We will only use your name and contact information to get in touch with you, and to ensure no legal conflicts of interest exist.
